We opened our doors in August of 2004 and quickly formed a wonderful community of children, parents and teachers. With such a great beginning, we can only continue to build and get better! Students attending Shayne live in the southernmost area of Davidson County and are zoned to Overton High School. Our faculty and staff have created a strong bond with each other that is held together by a commitment to children and excellence in education. Our students have developed a sense of school spirit and pride in being “Bright Shayne Stars” in their school. Partnerships forged with parents and community members have enabled the school to provide special programs, equipment, and activities that enhance and enrich our curriculum and environment.
The students at Shayne are representative of our city, state, and our nation. We are proud to serve students from every socioeconomic level and several cultures. A strong character education component helps students to develop respect and tolerance for each other and their beliefs. Academically, each student is provided with the challenges and/or support needed to meet and exceed district and state academic standards. Students who leave Shayne will be prepared to meet the academic and social challenges in any middle school setting. Each day we are working to meet our goal of being the best elementary school for students in the Overton Cluster, Metro Nashville Public Schools, and the State of Tennessee.
